Yes, you read the subject right. Aside from being the richest nation on earth, Qatar is also the fattest with half of all adults obese and 17 per cent of the population suffering from diabetes.

By comparison America, which is often assumed to be the fattest, looks positively slim with a third of adults obese and eight per cent diabetic.

Out of a population of 1.7million, just 250,000 are native Qataris, who, in the space of just two generations have switched from a tribal existence to living in air conditioned villas being waited on by armies of servants.

Shocking isn't it? Change of lifestyle is necessary.

Thats sad but true, parents should give good example from in and outside of the house. They need a lot of guidance to their parents thats the most important they need to involve in any kind of sports..We've been focused on taste from the time we were children, and our taste buds have become accustomed to the flavors of pleasure foods , expecting them every time we eat. But now that we're adults and we have children we know the bad cause of this food it's time to take responsibility for our eating as well our kids and tell ourselves the truth: Most food companies and restaurants sell unhealthy foods that human bodies were never designed to eat, and if we want to get healthy and stay at a natural weight, we have to stop or limit our kids junk eating.

They must be aware of the consequences of unhealthy lifestyle, what would they become, what would they suffer, what are the risks and what they might lose.

Maybe the Government has to address this problem to the residents and implement an act that makes the people aware of what they are eating and how these food sustain their health. I don't know if there's a club here that promotes fitness and health even not neccessarily going to gymn but instead by selling food supplements that is healthy but accelerates the metabolism. Or maybe a food shop that creates yummy or delicious snacks but less in calories. So I think the best way is promote awareness always especially to the young ones about the kind of food they are eating and parents has a great part in reminding kids not to eat as often as they want in fastfoods but instead look for restaurants that serve healthy foods only.

That's a good point @Darling though the choice is ours, it's us who should watch our intakes.

Yes you all right..The obesity is down to poor choices and weekness coupled with low exercise. Most kids are "mothered" to school and spend a lot of time on line and are sedentary. All of these factors are additively contributing to obesity. The population ignorance on medical and dietary matter reflects the wider population ignorance. Change will not come from TV messages, banning this that or the other but educating the population on things that matter, especially parents and more especially women who still prepare most meals.
