Unfortunately once your account has been hacked, there's a very little chance to recover it but mostly not. You have to spend some resources if you really want to take back your account. Money, IT specialist and Time are necessary. It's not easy and it usually takes too much time. Hackers won't hack if they can easily get caught.

But for you to protect your account from hackers, here's some tips:

    -Change your password regularly.
-Use a strong password like using some special characters, combination of letters and numbers.
-Do not use generic password for each account. Example, your email, FB and other accounts must have unique password.
-Be careful before clicking the link sent to you even from a friend.
-Use HTTPS for secured connection (https://www.facebook.com)

This link below is very helpful and easy to follow to protect your account from hackers.

You're right Darling. It also happened to me. I forgot to sign out from my account in an internet cafe due to in hurry or something. Then that day, my friends called me complaining that they were receiving foul messages. My account wasn't totally hacked but for that day I looked like a bad person to the people I knew. So what I did, I explained what happened by sending a message to all my contacts.

Yes. Before clicking the link, roll over first your mouse pointer on it and check at the status bar (lower left corner of your monitor) if the link is suspicious do not click otherwise it will bring you to website where your account is at risk.
