Labour Ministry shuts 42 worksites for violating summer midday work ban

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs said yesterday that it has shut down 42 worksites for failing to comply with the summer schedule for outdoor works.

As per the law no 16 of 2007, all companies are required to stop outdoors works from 11.30 am to 3pm to protect workers from being exposed to direct sunlight and extreme heat. The ban is in force from June 15 to August 31. The ministry had warned that companies violating the rule could face closure for up to one month. The ministry had also asked companies to prominently display the summer working hours at work sites.

Strict rules by Ministry of labour is welcomed but still many small or medium companies are forging their labour to work straight shirt by breaking rules stipulated i.e 11-30 am to 3-00pm.

 

Maybe they thought the Ministry isn't serious about this rule, then they set an example and hoping this will be a good caution to other companies who are violating these safety rules. Strict compliance is a must for the benefits of both parties, the company and the employees safety.

 

If we go around looking at the small small building construction sites, you may come to know that many people may be working at these times, the rule is much reflected in biggier site where a hugh number of labour are working.
