It's good to meet different people with different nationalities. It's exciting how we talk and exchange thoughts with them. But sometimes we have hard time to understand other nationalities even if they are speaking in English language.

How do you guys manage this language barriers especially in your work area?

By paying attention to each and every syllable of their words no matter the accent barrier, asking questions and sometimes using gesture to be able to understand them.

Pay attention to the words they use most and understand their language It is maybe not the purest way, but combined with conscious effort and lessons this might end up well..Most important though is not even a word but eye contact and a smile is also a great tool..

The accent is difficult to deal with as some people used to speak so fast and sounds like the words are swallowed. Paying attention is really the tool. Thanks!

4 years back when i was still working and has to be around during meetings which my boss has to attend it was really great challenged for me to take and transcribe the minutes because it is mostly attended by australians and european people whose accent is different from what im used to. paying attention is important and reading their lips because from there you will determine the syllables used but if its still difficult to catch what being said its better to ask them to repeat it.
