Traffic services soon for HIA, HGH visitors

    Visitors to Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Hamad International Airport (HIA) will soon be able access services of the Traffic Department.

    New offices will open in addition to the 15 functioning under the department, to reduce the rush at branches and make it easy for the public to access services.

    The offices provide all type of services, except for cancellation of car registration and importing vehicles, said Captain Ali Rashid Mohamed Al Azbah, Head of traffic offices at the department at the Ministry of Interior.

    Offices will also be opened in Mesaimeer and Messaied, he told the latest edition of Al Shurtha Mahak – the police magazine published by the Public Relations Department at the ministry.

    Traffic offices function together with other service centres in Al Shamal, Al Zain, Umm Salal, Al Khor and other places.

    However, the number of offices in Al Rayan, Al Mamoora, Al Mathar, Al Wakrah and Souq Waqif technically and administratively function under the department.

    These offices provide all services related to selling vehicles, renewal of vehicles registration (isthimara), driver’s licence, changing GCC driving licences, changing colour of vehicles and payment of violation penalties, said Captain Al Azbah

    However, cancelling cars registration, providing special number plates, and giving permits to export vehicles are done at the department in Madinat Khalifa and Industrial Area.

    All services provided at offices are processed through Matrash 2 facility and soon customers will receive their final documents for services through post.

    Also, an online link will be created between traffic offices and insurance companies to provide all services from one venue.

    The department also plans to open new technical inspection offices (Fahas) in addition to the ones operating in Al Shamal, Dukhan, Shahaniya, Al Wakrah and Mesaied in collaboration with Waqood. The department receives over 12,000 visitors a month. The Peninsula
