Although there is no dress code as such, for foreigners, it is better to wear modest clothes, and conservative clothing is recommended. This implies no shorts for men, and no mini-skirts or tank tops for women. Foreign visitors are expected to dress in a style that is sensitive to Islamic culture.

Added also to this topic about dress code here in Qatar The dress code is relatively conservative. Keep your shoulders and knees covered when out and about. Full length sleeves and trousers are required to enter mosques and a scarf is always a good accessory to carry around, it can also get cold in the malls with the A/C!! Swimwear is fine by a pool or on the beach. A "Cover-Up" campaign has just started here which aims to educate expat women on the expected dress code as there have been a few problems with some locals being offended by what some people are wearing!! And now for my motto..RESPECT FIRST YOURSELF SO OTHER WILL RESPECT YOU..

I agree with you Rolita...I have also concern with the tourist visitors in Qatar especially those people coming from less conservative countries...There should be someone to brief them before they go into the public so that they will avoid wearing dress which is not fit for this country
