A man who married a local woman after pretending to be a Qatari and took some of her money has been sentenced to six months in jail, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

The defendant married the woman and their relation lasted for some time, during which he was able to get hold of some of her money.

Eventually, the woman discovered that he had assumed a false identity and name to trick her into marrying him.

The man appealed the ruling of the court of first instance and the issue reached the court of cassation on the grounds that he had reconciled with the claimant, his Qatari wife, who had dropped her complaints against him.

However, the court of cassation rejected the plea and upheld the sentence.

So the news is silent about the original nationality of that person whose hiding behind that false identity?how was he able to pursue that knowing this is a very strict country?he doest deserve to get 6 months only to jail for he is already stealing money it's all just the same with a scam.

You're right it didn't mention his nationality and the punishment is light for this case.

yes he may have to spend time in jail. But in my opinion he should also pay for Fines. Fines are a much more common penalty for fake Identity crimes, though the specific amounts vary significantly.

And it is mentioned in the report that the man and his wife have reconciled and the complaint was dropped. Fines are not mentioned but maybe because the man got some money from his wife.
