    Is it possible Expat can apply Qatari Citizen? and how?

    Qatar has no legal provisions that allow foreigners to become permanent residents, and no obvious process to apply for citizenship.
    However, a locally-based researcher has uncovered clauses in the country’s laws that allow foreigners to apply to become Qatari nationals.
    • Residing in Qatar for 25 successive years, and not resided outside the country for more than two consecutive months during any one of those 25 years;
    • Living in Qatar legally during the duration of that period;
    • Having a sufficient means of income generation;
    • Maintaining a good reputation, demonstrating good behavior and not committing any criminal act or act of “moral turpitude;” and
    • Having a fair command of the Arabic language.

    But sad to say Tanweer but until now no legal provisions that allow foreigners to become permanent residents but in circumstances Qatari-Athletes are given a Qatari passport to use only when traveling for competitions and training only. It is a temporary passport which is revoked after the athletes stops competing for Qatar. They athletes rarely receive Qatari benefits as their passports is kept with officials and used only for competing and training, they use their other passport for traveling and identification purposes. Hence, temporarily on paper they are dual-citizens but in reality they are only receiving the benefits of their original passport and they are not-Qatari.

    Me too I never heard one incident that an expat can convert his citizenship to Qatari citizenship.If there's one then I would try to apply knowing that the government has a lot of benefits for their citizens.

    I wondered this once and it's good to know that it's mentioned in their law but I think it wouldn't be that easy.
