All expats in Qatar has one common denominator and that is to work in order to earn. While we are earning are we also thinking about how to make our earning earns more in the future? Then we think about ways on how to invest our money. As there are many ways to invest our money there are also vehicles that will suit us. We need to know their characteristics and why they will suit as per our objectives.
    1. Bonds- your investment is safer or risk free because it is guaranteed by the govt.however chances of return is low
2.Stocks-when you invest in stocks or equities you become part of the ownership of the business. You are allowed to receive any profits that company allocates.Profits are called dividends. But stocks are volatile compared to bonds.
3.Mutual Funds-you can invest your money without time or experience needed. You would get a better return if you choose a professional to do in your behalf.

I invested part of my salary in buying properties/land from our province. For me that's a good investment, the longer it last the valuable it is.

Precisely real state is also a good idea though it takes time but once you manage to own it the rest is your role self employed.

Yes I also agree with you those things are good investment esp land because it does not depreciate but see to it that while paying all the tax dec for your land you must also earn it from maybe the fruits it generates or if you put business farms like chicken business. For me I know the only way I can earn from the land is when the time I'm going to for sale it with good profit.
